Match Report
Lord Wandsworth College Boys-U15B vs  King Edward VI, Southampton
On: Saturday, 29 Apr 2023
Venue: Away

The Bs started their season with a positive display against KES. After winning the toss skipper James R decided to bat first on a slow wicket. Eventually all came to learn that the short ball sat up or just died and the full ball was difficult to score from. This allowed confident hitters to punish the bad ball while the more tentative batsmen struggled to play conventionally. LWC started slowly and were indebted to Alex R who added impetus with 38 from 24 balls. Max Blockley helped with a more controlled 10 from 15 and Henry East kept the tempo going at the end with 20 from 21. A score of 129 from their 20 overs seemed an imposing total.

LWC made an excellent start with the ball. Alex R backed up his batting with two wickets in his first over that saw him on a hat-trick ball. At 17 for 3 LWC looked in control. However, KES had some hitters of their own and two of them played cameos of 27 that made the finish closer that it should have been. Crucially James O had one caught by Zeph P, who impressed on his first outing. Henry East picked up late wickets and once the second of the their two hitters feel to skipper Ralls the game seemed safe. "0 or so off the last over seemed and proved to be too much and the final wicket fell off the final ball.
