This was an excellent win for the Bs based on an astonishing bowling performance from Alex R. LWC were put into bat on a pitch with small boundaries and a short wicket that added a metre or more to the pace of each bowler. LWC initially struggled against the Dauntseys' seam attack.and lost wickets from the first ball. Wickets continued to fall regularly and it needed some hitting from Alex R, Hector B, that included a huge six, and Ryan M coming in at number 11. Two dozen extra bolstered the score to 97. The opposition coach thought it a good score but one that 30 minutes of good hitting could reach with the short boundaries.
Alex R and Tom K had done a little work before hand and it at least focused one of them. Alex R charged in and clean bowled not one but the first two batters. His hat-trick ball was a straight full toss that hit the batter half way up his pad and straight in front, LBW. Not content with that he cleaned bowled the next batter also before finding the outside edge and conceding two runs leaving him with figures of 4 for 2 off 1. Tom Ks over was quiet then Alex got a fifth and an over later a sixth. 6 for 7 off 3 was an excellent performance. Not to be upstaged the bowler who replaced him, Ben A took two wickets with his first two balls before returning to take the final wicket. In between we saw James O show that he can contribute and another wicket from Hector B. The catching was good and the spirit positive. Well done to all especially captain James R who steered the ship.
