The U14c team had another close and enjoyable match against a KEW side that just edge a tight game. The majority of the play was concentrated in the middle third of the field but both sides did break out and occupy the goal keepers. Neither side had quite the skill and composure to consistently threaten scoring but nevertheless both keepers made saves. Tomi E and Louie C displayed some skillful touches and Tim B ran around with purpose, even making a goal line clearance to keep the scores at 0-0. Shey R and Will A defended well and there was excellent effort from George S and Alex S. In truth everyone contributed positively to the performance.
Despite reminding lapses in concentration and commitment allowed the opposition to run in on goal too often and from one of these breaks Henry F parried a solid shot , then smothered a second, only to see a weak follow up shot squeeze over the line. Again he was within his rights to ask where his defenders were when the initial run was made. this proved to be the only goal in an entertaining match. Organisation and a willingness to defend are on the present list along with the improvement in basic skill that training will produce.
