After a delayed departure and start the U14C played out an entertaining match against a slicker more skillful Bedales side. Despite an improved defensive performance, most of the early play was concentrated in the LWC defensive third and the LWC keeper saw plenty of action. Henry F again excelled making a number of quality saves to frustrate the opposition. It looked like it could be a difficult game at this stage. There were sporadic attacks from LWC, Jack M tried to get in behind the defense whilst Alex S preferred to run at them with the ball. Eventually B did score but soon after LWC shocked their hosts with a scrambled goal from George S. This seemed to awaken B who dominated the next period and scored again. LWC lacked a presence in the middle so were constantly giving up the ball and struggled to release the pressure on their goal. To his credit Robbie I stepped into this area and made a difference to the course of the game.
In the second half LWC won a series of penalty corners. From one of them Robbie I stopped the ball well and moved into the D before appearing to be taking a swing that never was. This threw the B defense, and allowed him to shot. From the resulting rebound JAck M scored a second. B were not happy that the goal stood especially as a 2-2 did not reflect the possession and territory. The rest of the game followed the pattern of the first half without any further scoring from LWC. The hosts, however, scored twice more and forced any number of saves from Henry. In the end 4-2 was a good reward for continued effort against a stronger side.
