The U14C team played out another entertaining game against a well matched opposition. Despite much of the match being concentrated in the middle third there was enough goal mouth action to keep the spectators interested. From one such moment LWC forced a shot which deflected in from a defenders stick to take a fortuitous lead. P would argue that they played the more attractive hockey and were able to string together a number of passages of multiple pass play, while LWC were content to just hit the ball forward more often than not. Hence they struggled to relieve pressure and spent much of the time defending. This did allow goal keeper Henry F to excel with a number of high quality saves from both feet and stick.
As in previous matches lapses in concentration and limited understanding at the back allowed P to release their forward runners in on goal. There was good industry from Will A, Luca N and Donnie L in the middle of the field and solid defending again from Will A. Jeremy Z played with heart as did Alex S and Jack M upfront. Unfortunately limited skill and technique, alongside questionable decision making made the game hard. The moment of the game was a superb stop from a 1-v-1 by Henry F that replaced penalty corners.
All in all another enjoyable game that found LWC the wrong side of a close game.
