Match Report
Lord Wandsworth College Boys-U14C vs  Marlborough College Boys-U14E
On: Saturday, 27 Jan 2024
Venue: Away

What ever the reason LWC found their range in front of goal and were able to turn pressure and possession into goals this week. Marlborough were, as hinted at by their coach, new to hockey and afforded LWC the time and space they needed in midfield to dominate possession and create some very promising passages of play. Numerous times LWC picked the ball up in the centre, attacked well down the left hand side and played the ball across goal toward the D and get shots in on goal.

there were strong performances from Seb B, Harry P and Wilbur T. The former picked up most of the ball in the middle and drove toward goal to create chances whilst the latter two were more likely to be on the end shooting at goal. Harry taking one smart chance in the first half and Seb scoring another. There were also encouraging performances all round from keeper Jack C, through Charlie B and Seb B, a well as Zac D and Barney S. there were a number of instances of play involving multiple passes to take M defenders out of the game and it shows what the boys can achieve given enough time.

The aim in the second half was to be more clinical in front of goal and so it proved with four more goals following. LWC continued to dominate possession and grew in confidence. There is still a need to improve basic stop and pass skills as well as well as staying connected in attack. All in all a good day for the U14C.
