The decision to trim the B team match squad meant a much changed C team made the trip to Seaford College. Spirits were high in anticipation of the differences they would make to the standard of play and their inclusion ensured the Cs had a full side and subs. the 2-1 score-line reflected a tense game but in truth LWC dominated possession and should have won comfortably.
When asked to state an area that LWC need to improve, the answer given was finishing. This was true, there were numerous saves from the S GK and two very near misses; none of these would be described as profligate. After controlling most of the first half LWC took the lead through Smyth who shot firmly to finished well from the middle of the D. LWC looked open on their left hand side and eventually S realised this was the place to attack and were able to make progress. On one of theses occasions they were able to fire the ball across the D and the return ball eluded LWC defenders and was struck home.
LWC stayed firm and continue to create chances. Wilbur T impressed again as did , Barney S and Zac D of the old guard. The new boys led, by Henry J who fired in the winner; supported by the Smythe twins continued to pose problems for the Seaford defenders. Toby C and Max A gave LWC the defensive solidity needed. there were some promising passages of play but there could also be better us of the wings and greater urgency to move the ball forward quickly when the space is there.
