The C team can be pleased with their season that ended with a 1-0 victory against Churchers College. LWC started well and dominated both possession and territory in the early exchanges. The approach of both sides congested the middle of the field and it was in this region in front of the Cs D where much of the first 15 minutes was played. Possession was won and lost by both sides and LWC did a good job in keeping the opposition in this area. Unfortunately LWC were rarely unable to go wide and turn this surfeit of ball into meaningful shots on goal. As the half progressed C found the space to break out and on one occasion force a series of short corners that came close to opening the scoring. Jack C was his usual assured self in goal and C did not really look like scoring other than here.
The second half was more even but LWC still had the edge. Toby C was solid at the back and, with the help of Charlie B and Henry A, managed to contain most of the C attacks. LWC continued to win and lose possession in the middle, Oscar T ran and ran, Alex S and Jo S continued to have some good touches and Zac D provided support. As in the first half, Wilbur T , Max A and Rory H made good runs around the top of the D without finding the space for a decisive shot. Eventually a through ball was finished well by Rory H and this proved to be the difference.
Thanks to all the boys who have represented the team, especially those who have come into the side from the B and D sides when regularly players have let the side down by failing to show on matchdays. Special congratulations to Seb B who started with the side and progressed into the B. Similarly to Harry p who made the same journey and was selected for the A squad. Well done. Finally thanks to the parents who have supported the boys from the side lines.
